Meet Cole
Cole earned his finance degree from CSU in 2023 and was told he would be our CFO because of it! He is also learning other business strategy and marketing pieces.

1. What motto do you live by and why? The answer is always no until you ask. If you never ask you’ll never know. With starting my own business with excavating, I’ve had to learn that.
To be more brave in asking for what you want.
2. Who has inspired your work ethic? My mom and dad mostly because I think they enjoy what they do. A lot of people take a job and don't necessarily enjoy it. Seeing that taught me that you may have to work harder and extra hours but you won’t mind it.
3. What do you find enjoyable about farming and the lifestyle? I think it’s good to do hard things. With farming there is a lot of delayed gratification. This is the opposite of how the world works. Anything worthwhile takes time like lifting weights or running. You don’t see the results for a long time. Farming is like this. You plant the crop and finally after a lot of hard work there’s a pretty cool harvest.
4. What is your earliest memory on the farm? I can remember crawling into a grain bin that had barley in it on the farm and that’s when I learned I had asthma! 😀 Mostly though I loved driving around to dad and getting waffles or going to the bakery to get donuts when we went “farming”. I can remember dad and “poppy” building a swather.
5. What values do you feel you learned from your family? I definitely learned hard work, honesty, and integrity.
7. What are your strength areas? I work hard, and I think I work really well with most people. I’m a pretty patient person and am organized.
8. What work or projects do you do outside of Bloomstead Farms? I own an excavating company where I do dirt moving projects. I also work with my dad on Seger West farms growing potatoes, barley, and canola.
9. How do these things benefit Bloomstead? I use my equipment on the flower farm quite often.
10. What do you do on the flower farm? I am the CFO. I take care of all the books and I also help in farm operations including planting and greenhouse work. Actually, whatever is needed!
11. What has been most surprising about what you like about working on the flower farm? It’s peaceful and easygoing. I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I do. It’s relaxing.
12. What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you? I’m pretty funny! lol!
13. What is your vision for the flower farm? A full circle of flowers!
14. What is your favorite flower? I like the fleurel dahlia.
